Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG)

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a non-surgical, endoscopic procedure used to support weight loss. It is performed through the mouth using a flexible camera (endoscope) and does not involve incisions or removal of any part of the stomach.

The aim of ESG is to reduce the size and capacity of the stomach to help regulate food intake.

How ESG Works

During ESG, the stomach is sutured from the inside to create a narrower, tube-like shape. This changes how the stomach fills and empties.

These changes may help to:

  • Reduce how much food the stomach can comfortably hold

  • Promote earlier feelings of fullness

  • Support smaller portion sizes

The stomach itself remains intact, and the procedure does not permanently remove tissue.
